It is supposed to be straight :scared:
You dig a hole put the new post in, then pour concrete. You probably need to install a temporary post while doing this.

When you buy a new log, buy a pressure impregnated one.
We don't usually use concrete around here, everyone too poor. But for this post replacement, I probably will as the new post will for the most part be the thing holding it all together. This is the post behind that one

PXL_20250824_001508605.jpg

That's a 6x4 and it is taking most of the weight. The next post behind that one is a 4x4 and the one behind that one is a post not much bigger around than a horse cock. All the post on the other side are mostly all rotted off, hence the whole thing being pulled backwards.

Think I'll go in with a 6x6 post and concrete. But yea, got to hold the roof up while I do that :eusa_think:
If you don't want to use concrete, I think you can use pre made concrete plinths. It's basically a concrete socket with a steel attachment. It is possible that these are sold separately so that you must install the steel attachment yourself.

PXL_20250818_195218273.jpg
Well the repair guy replaced the dryer belt last week and grandpa just the other day went to do is weekly load, which is just a pair of pants, one shirt and a towel, and the dryer drum at least now turns, but doesn't put out any heat. :bleh:

Figured the high limit switch might have gotten tripped with all the testing, etc so I figured I'd just pull the washer away from the wall a bit and take a look behind the dryer at the thermostats. So after getting smashed back there, realized that there is no "back panel" on this dryer, not sure how you would get to the thermostats :tard: but while back there, noticed the plug was barely in the wall. I smashed it back in and now it is putting out heat :tard: So I guess that was an easy fix. Had to unhook the water lines from the washer to pull it out far enough though. And the shut off valves don't actually shut off and you have to work quick while the already semi-rotten floor slowly floods. Got everything hooked back up and in place, mopped up the water with some towels and figured I'd run them through a cycle just to make sure everything works.

I want to visit your house because it would be like travel back in time. It's just like that weird hotel I once stayed at in Nevada, like an motel from the 80s and even the TV was from 80s with a rotary channel selector. I bet you have to TV with rotary channel selector as well.

Well they have two TVs. The one in the living room is a flat screen from like 15 years ago. It was a gift from my mother after she had to downsize due to her 6th divorce.

The one in the "guest room" is from 1995, new from walmart or something. They bought it with money from a home insurance claim. Apparently in the good ol days, you could just call your home insurance and say lightning blew out your toaster and two TVs and they'd just cut you a check for $1k. Because that is what happened. The TV that it replaced, I think they got at a garage sale like in the late 1980's. But neither had knobs though.

You can see the top of it behind the head board of my grandparent's old bed here:

We took down my grandma's bed a couple of years ago after she started crappin all over it. Grandpa been sleeping in a recliner since like 2012 because laying down makes it hard to breath

Perl, that's so 90s. It belongs in the dumpster of history, like Cobol.

Gunna put the 6" auger on the tractor, instead of the normal 12" one. Figured I could just swap the auger parts, but no it is never that simple  had to cut the top off a bit so the bolt holes would line up

I become so happy seeing Smucky doing real work. I didn't know that you had the luxury of having that drilling attachment for your tractor. Then everything gets so much easier, almost too easy.
