Maybe he was just hungry and the cat was already dead?

Reminds me of this "incident" I had in high school. Probably 9th grade because I didn't have a car yet. Me and two other "friends" decided to skip school so right before first class, we walked off campus and down to this bay type area behind the school. I believe it was a man-made bay made by connecting a low lying area to the nearby river. So there were docks and boats and stuff everywhere but there was also a large "stage" that went out over the water. It wasn't a fishing dock, but something the city used to put on performances and stuff.

I dug it up on google maps. You can see the "stage" here:

For whatever reason, it was built kind of funny where underneath it, it wasn't just piers and rafters and posts, but there was a whole other floor under there right above the water. Getting to it was not easy, but we managed. The reward being you have a nice spot in the shade where no one can see you.

So we sat there for about an hour blazing weed and many cigarettes and just chilling. But then random people kept coming and walking around on top of the stage. Which was strange for 9am on a weekday. We heard one of them mention something like "I don't see anything" so we figured maybe someone called the fire department due to all the weed smoke rising off this thing :keke:

Got super paranoid so at the first sign of "coast clear" we bolted out of there and walked to the other side of the bay area where there was just a picnic table, a trash can, an outdoor grill and a boat ramp.

Now at this point in my life, I had smoked a ton of weed and I was sure I knew of all the things it would do to a person. But something about just sitting in the sun on a picnic table bored out of my mind brought on the heaviest sleepiness that I had ever felt. It hit my other two friends too. We were all like fffuuuuuuuuuuu "why am I so tired?"
And not only was I super sleepy, I hadn't eaten breakfast yet. That combined with the weed induced munchies was becoming unbearable. Like I would have killed somebody just for a bed and pillow right then, but I would have REALLY killed somebody if that meant I could have something to eat.

Now just a few feet in front of me was a piggy perch, a trash fish usually sold live to be used as bait. It had probably jumped out of the livewell of a boat during launch.
Orthopristis_chrysoptera_458512037.jpg
It was just sitting there on the asphalt, dead, cooking in the sun. But SHIT it looked good enough to eat. It had even been run over a few times, so was super flat and had all its guts coming out of its mouth but that didn't stop my mouth from watering.

Now I sat there for a few hours staring at this thing and looking from the fish to the grill next to the picnic table. There were no trees around, no wood. Only way to "cook" it would be to light random trash and plastic bottles on fire from the trash can.

Deep thoughts

But before any of that materialized, we figured based on the position of the sun (yea none of us had a watch), that the cafeteria at school might be open by now. But we didn't have any money. But one of the guys said he might have some money on his account. So off he went with a promise to come back soon with perhaps a feast.

He eventually came back. He had gone through the snack bar line and gotten 5 jalapeno poppers. 3 of which he had already eaten. So I got one and my friend got one.
:finger:

And that is my story of the time I skipped school, with no watch, no money, and no shade so sat in the sun for hours and almost ate a roadkill fish :bleh:
