Sir, nobody takes slowmo videos of florescent lights, then makes gifs out of them and then post them on the internet.
I'm doing it now, and will continue from now on

Debating on getting some different ballasts just to play with but I can't buy anything right now because somewhere in all these fluorescent lamp paraphernalia purchases my credit card was compromised So I'm waiting on a new one in the mail

That's what happens when you start to deal with the mafia. Fluorescent light stuff is shady business.

Imagine how much money you have spent on something completely pointless. You can just as well start spending your money on Nigeria letters at this point.

Still no time to really mess with it until next week though

Even moar gif futility
Normally it only takes 10 frames (each 4ms) before the lamp stops flickering. Had a couple of slow starts so stretched this batch out to 34 frames.

You are fucking around with ballast which are ancient tech and also dangerous.

Got the new ballast in. The start up is less dramatic, seems to run the bulb at half power-ish for 200ms or so. But that is still not the right way to preheat the filaments. I assume with these short lamps it is hard to put any voltage to them and not have them ignite
The gifs in this batch are all much longer, so changed the delay to 100ms vs 200ms
Hope you enjoy them as much as I do

Yea, there's not much more I can do here.
Well actually, I've done start up gifs. What about shut down gifs?

You are probably the only person in the entire world who make slowmos of florescent lights turning off. How does this make you feel? Do you tell your wife you're doing this?

There's a lot I've done that others haven't. My wife doesn't care what I do, she only uses me for sex.

Just buy her a BFC 9000.

Oh, just discovered a feature of the new ballast. It apparently has some voltage compensating circuitry in it as when the a/c kicks on, you don't get that light dimming effect. Of course I made a video of it. Not sure how good you can hear the a/c coming on though even though I cranked the gain way up, hence you can hear the wall clock ticking away

My wife thinks it is funny that many women say they don't need a man and then go out and buy "toys" shaped like man parts.

So many hours and you still failed. If you gone with LEDs you would have saved almost one week in man hours. You even proved for yourself that the florescent lamps sucks.

It doesn't matter, you drilled holes in your antique lamps destroying them. If you would have gone with LEDs you would have to do that since they run much cooler.

LEDs today are superior in all ways. They consume less power, produce less heat, they have better color distribution. Some even let you adjust the color temperature on the fly. Some have built in dimmers.

I think you missed the point that most of the "bulbs" in that photo are burned out
