We got a lot of rain and the barn floor is dirt. So going into the barn means walking through 6" deep mud

That was front page on the news website. People really can't comprehend just how big a "billion" is. So a "billions of bath tubs" analogy is just peek tard :tard:

The brown goat with bad teeth hasn't really been eating good for the last two months. Was able to get her by on water soaked alfalfa pellets but she stopped eating that last month. For the last two weeks has only been eating half rotten figs that we throw to her every day. Now she can't walk or get up. Been in the same place for two days. Planning on getting out the "forget me stick" later tonight

For today, need to mow but I don't think I can get the mower out of the barn without getting covered in mud so... will probably go back to tractor work/assembly. Going to try to get the oil pan on and get a gallon or so of oil in. Then turn the motor over for 30 seconds or so with the starter without the head on and see if I can get oil coming out of the top of the block. Then might pull some connecting rod caps and see if any rust/trash flowed into the bearings. If the answer is no, then I'll move to putting the head on. If the oil passages are full of rust and trash, then not sure what is next...

All right got the oil pan in place. Had to jack it into place and then beat it the rest of the way. Going to fill with oil, spin it over see if I can prime it. And then I'll drop the pan again and check everything make sure everything's flowing right. Not really sure how to get the pan back off though :ugh:

And back on. Now I got to jump off this and move some grass if it gets too dark. And then I'll jump back on it.

Got pan back on. Put oil in, unhooked water pump since I don't want water spraying everywhere. It cranks pretty freely without the top of the motor on. Was cranking for longer than I wanted and was about to let off and then oil started blasting out of the oil port. Didn't see any junk come out, was holding a rag over it. But that said it can't really build pressure with me just holding a rag over the hole. Tried to direct as much oil as I could back into the motor, but still made a mess. Also noticed on the other side of the motor diesel was blasting everywhere. Weird since the fuel is off.
The video is of the second run. You can see at the top when the oil starts to flow

So for now, washed up the mess with gasoline and calling it a night :stoner:

That's some heavy and sturdy oil pan, they don't build it like they used to. Now they are made of plastic.

Going to attempt to get the head on. But that involves me lifting and finagling 60 lb with one arm basically. :scaredjerk:

Can't you use a pulley system that lifts up one side and you take the other?

Maybe.... But probably more work than it's worth. I just had the wife help me since I have girly arms. But I got it on there and was going to get some bolts in but just simply out of time so I'm going to tape all the holes up so bugs don't get in there and then call it a night.

Finally, you get what wives are actually for, doing physical tasks that you're unable to do.

Also, I hope you got a new head gasket. Also torqued to spec in a specific order. If you can't do it, ask your wife.

I think I will get back out there Thursday to continue on working.

I guess first order of things,
Clean up head bolts, then get it torqued
Drop in push rods
Then bolt on rock arm assembly
Then turn over engine again with starter with the injectors still out. Engine will be "fully" assembled so should build oil pressure on the gauge.
Then drop oil pan again and pull some bearings to see if any crap has contaminated them.
If NO, then move on to getting all the bottom end torqued, then install oil pan "for real"
Then adjust valve gaps.
Install injectors.
Install fuel lines, turn engine over some more to prime fuel lines before fully tightening.
Then see if it will fire up. Will leave intake and exhaust manifolds off for maximum effect.
Service book says after first start up and warm up to re-torque head bolts again and check valve gaps while hot.
