We have an expensive mattress pad/cover type thing. It is fluffy cotton but it has been treated with I'm sure cancerous chemicals to make it waterproof. It used to be waterproof. Kids would pee on it she would bleed on it etc but it would never go all the way through. But it's been washed and thrashed so much that I guess the waterproofing is worn off. Because now there's a huge blood stain on the mattress. But I use my manly brute force and a vacuum cleaner and a bunch of peroxide to get it white as new

That's why you use a latex cover. You can use a latex cover over the bed, above that a throw away thin mattress in order to make it softer and airy. Make sure it is latex and not some vinyl material.Smucky wrote: Wed Oct 14, 2026 9:10 pmNinjaPoodle wrote: Wed Oct 14, 2026 5:23 pmYou need a latex cover for you bed.Smucky wrote: Wed Oct 14, 2026 5:13 pm Wife washed the sheets yesterday.
