Smucky's trapping adventures

Post by Smucky »

Was going to put this in my "daily" thread but figured I'd make a dedicated "lets kill innocent predators" thread. Need to order some supplies but should end up with some trapped predators here in the next week or two.

But first, a game cam dump of our victims

If you would live in Sweden, you'd be in jail by now. Stripped of all weapons, licenses and a few years of jail. Birds of prey are protected animals with severe sentences if killed. You are even by law required to report a dead birds of prey on your property, even if you didn't have anything to do with their deaths.

I remember some decades ago they jailed an old woman because she decided to stuff a dead bird of prey that she found because she didn't report it and stuffed without permission.

I don't know the legality of it here. But not sure what I should have done different. I followed the typical coyote set advice:

That guy puts a glob on the end of a stick. I literally just dipped the tip of a q-tip and threw that down a 8" hole I augered. Would have been deeper but I hit a tree root. Then buried it in dirt. I was absolutely floored when I pulled up the next day to check the trap and saw a bird in it. I have no idea how it could have known it was there. An incredible sense of smell. I debated on trying to saw its leg off with a knife. Figured it could live with just one leg maybe. But they got a beak the size of my thumb. Last thing I need is some nasty infection because it bit me or something. And I was running out of time, so just shot it

Was thinking about it this morning. I probably could have gotten a set of bolt cutters from the barn. It has a pretty long handle. I probably could have chomped its leg off without getting too close. So maybe next time :stoner: Nonetheless, shooting the national state bird of mexico while in Texas is probably encouraged.

The trap bait/lure I used was "coyote riot" in one, and "coyote death" in another. Supposedly made out of ground up coyote anal glands or something so it is not supposed to attract other predators.

In Sweden I don't think they would care if you got the "wrong" animal in the trap, there would have been a judicial case anyway and possible jail time. Sweden is a gaytard country though.

BTW, why did you use bird shots to kill that bird instead of aiming like you piss.

I thought Sweden was based and had gun skill classes in high school or something.

I was going for cam whore effect. I can't one hand shoot a rifle. Well I guess I could brace it on something to free up a hand, so hmm. But still, my choice of rifles are 22lr and 20ga. Def not going to one hand shoot a 20ga. And not running some 9mm rat shot through my 9mm barrel.

I was pretty confident in myself. I typically practice with a 20" target at 30 yds with the 9mm. So confident that when I went to get the 9mm from the house, just grabbed an empty mag and a single hollow point. But came to my senses and grabbed a half full mag of like 5 round noses and pushed the hollow point on to the top. Clearly wasted that one. :spinner:
