This could also belong in the "deep thoughts" thread.
This has been going on for years. Where people just can't even work on the most basic things. It's like they've lost all ability to use their hands or brain to fix stuff.

I don't know anything about that car but if the wiring's fried you can always splice the wires back together. If the computer is fried you could always dig around on eBay and try to find one for cheap.

Even outside of that you could open up the computer and try to see if there's something wrong that can be cleaned or fixed. That's assuming if the computer or whatever is even on the floorboard which is also dumb.

Of course the dealership is going to quote you for a whole new car.

Not that easy. Splicing a wire harness is difficult since there are hundreds of wires and you don't necessarily know which wire is bad. Buying a complete new computer module isn't always possible since they often have to be encoded to the car. Basically it's money grab .

Those wire harnesses are a joke. I've seen how they have do ridiculous weight saving in sports cars like deleting car door latches to a strip of cloth. At the same time they have wire harnesses that are thick like an anaconda and it's copper which isn't light. This in a time when optical interconnects are an option that weigh almost nothing.

If women only knew what real men were capable of. I can't even imagine what I'd do if I was 19 and had a female roommate. I'd be licking that toilet seat everyday.
