On May 18, 2025, Biden's personal office announced that he had been diagnosed with aggressive prostate cancer with bone metastasis during a routine physical checkup. His medical team stated the cancer is hormone-sensitive and that treatment options are being reviewed. It has been acknowledged that the cancer has now spread from his prostate to other tissue in his body and that Biden's urinary symptoms were increasing as well. As of May 18, the cancer has a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5).
