It's actually a good idea, letting your son in on an engine rebuild. Then he learn something real and not some fag stuff.
Smucky wrote: Tue Feb 24, 2026 6:34 pm But the bigger issue is even without anything attached to the loader, it is probably 1500lbs, and is way too much weight for that size of tractor.
You have to run at least 45psi in the front tires (which say 40psi max) just to keep them from looking flat. So it rides like absolute hell. The new tractor only needs 15-20psi in the fronts, it feels like you ride on air in comparison ( ).
Also since the loader is welded on, the welds are constantly cracking so you have to take it back to the neighbor every few years for touch ups.
That's because back in the day they built stuff that could last not some cheap Indian tractor shit. This means it is a bit heavier but indestructible. Also build a bigger barn when you at it so that you can fit two tractors.

Also you don't have a front loader for the new tractor so you have to repair the old one.

And now to get back to my vibe coding projects that I haven't touched since the end of December. Can't even remember where I left off at :tard: :fag: and of course, the entire AI landscape has changed in the last four weeks :tard:

For today, change oil in tractor. Going to leave the oil filter in. It is pretty huge and only has 70 hours on it

Hitched the plow, need to do the whole field, but will probably just do 1/4 and the rest a week or two from now

Always change the oil filter with the oil change.
I used to do that. But started cutting them open and no matter how many hours had been on an engine, they always looked fine. of course there is the by pass valve so in theory they will only "clog" so much before they start bypassing. But I have magnets on a lot of drain plugs and they always look the same. If a filter was bypassing, there would be more metal on the magnet.
Pretty much every car company is pushing 10k-20k oil change intervals. Not sure how that translates into engine hours but 6,000 miles at 50mph is 120 hours. So I think 150-200 hours on a filter is fine.
The john deere tractor manual just says to change filter yearly.
The engine manual for my lawn mower says to change every 200 hours.

Oil filters have doubled in price a few years ago. If I could fine a good deal, I might go to yearly changes. But the filter for the john deere seems unique and only made by a couple of companies, typically for $20 a piece. I thought I might be able to find a compatible one for a car or truck but the thread size is M24x1.5 which is pretty much only on industrial equipment

I think the actual john deere part number is RE519626. Google it, you'll see not many good deals :eat:
