Aquiline Shipment Tracking Scam

Post by Smucky »

Figured this needed a dedicated thread.
Was going to replace some of the ceiling lights in the kitchen. So I did the normal thing, browse ebay for a large box for cheap. Which I found, same brand, twelve pack for $95 shipped (would normally be $200+ at the store). Bought, paid, and then the next day I get a shipment tracking number for a carrier called "Aquiline" Just trying to figure out who this company is lead to plenty of red flags Obviously to sell something on ebay, you need to be in possession of the item. It is against their rules to sell items and have them be shipped out from Amazon, Walmart, etc. But that is what Aquiline enables. It serves as a proxy between different shipping services. So if you are going to be selling on ebay but shipping items out of Amazon, you put your amazon tracking number into Aquiline and it will spit out a Aquiline tracking number which ebay gladly accepts. :tard:

So I had a feeling that is what is going on. But I don't really care, I am just looking for lights at a good deal. I don't care if they come from amazon warehouse deals. But every time I've tried to use amazon warehouse deals for good prices on "open box" lighting fixtures/bulbs, the result is always the same: someone installs the new stuff and then puts the old stuff in the box and returns it for full credit. Hence why I was trying to stay away from amazon while looking for a good deal on lighting.

But yet here we are. Two days after placing the ebay order, an amazon truck rolls up to my driveway and tosses out a box. And sure enough, 11 out of the 12 fixtures were the old replaced part

So contacted the seller, we'll see what happens:
Hello,I received my order today, but unfortunately the light fixtures are incorrect. I ordered the Nicor DLR4607120S downlight with selectable color temperature, but received an older model (DLR430061204k, date stamped 4/2018) with fixed 4000K color temperature instead. It appears this may have been a previous customer return where the original fixtures were replaced and the old ones put in the box. Out of the twelve in the box, one was actually correct. It has the gray backing and selector switch (see attached pictures)Could you please let me know how we can resolve this?Thank you.

In a perfect world, hopefully I'll just get my money back and then I will be able use the guts of these to fix the ones in my house. And even if I have to ship the fixtures back, I'll still rip the guts out of them before hand :fu:

Just let your wife do these things from now on, ok.

If you continue with your light fixture adventures, you will probably end up in some kind predicament with Mexican cartels.

Ah yea, the seller sent me a UPS label with an amazon return address. Guess I'll start ripping out the guts tomorrow before I pack them back up and drop off :bleh:

You're not going to gut those armatures because you will only cut yourself and make a mess.

Nobody guts lamps unless you have some compulsory lamp obsession.

Re-installed the light, it was still flickering :tard: which means the issue is not the power board but the LEDs themselves :finger:

Looks like there are two "banks" in parallel and one randomly cuts in and out causing the flickering

Probably a bad solder joint that with heat expansion causes it to loose power. But no amount of beating on it with a screw driver can make it flicker. Seems to be completely random :finger:

Do you understand what you have done. Please stop with you lamp obsession and come back to the real world. If anybody finds out what you are doing, you will end up in a mental hospital and your will wife will file for divorce.

Took a closer look at the LED array. Seems fine  just blobbed more thermal grease under it and reassembled.

It seems from the shuffle, the bad bank stays completely off now. I guess playing with it broke the last string of connectivity :bleh:
